Wireframes

July 3, 2014

The second step of the process is creating the wireframes for the website. I’ve looked at other successful and well designed sites to try to emulate their look, and it’s clear that the best designed sites are employing full page image and video to striking and powerful effect. The beautiful underwater coral reef images found on the original GCRA blog site should lend themselves well to this format, and hopefully I’ll be able to find enough high resolution and hi-def examples to fill the site.

Here are a list of the sites who have beautiful and effective design whose look I wish to emulate:

INTO THE ARCTIC/GREENPEACE

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE:  THE SERENGETI LION

CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL

AFRICAN WILDLIFE FUND

Here’s a second, and more complete pass at the wireframes…now 5 in total. My idea is to have a home page of full video with minimal text over top. The subsequent pages will contain an undersea photograph or video taking the entire width of the page, but cropped top and bottom to imply looking into another world, through a submersible porthole or divers mask. The donate page will be clean and simple, with straightforward direction on how to donate in different tiers.
