Issue number 4 of COLORS Magazine was the first of Kalman’s publication collaboration with Benetton to have a single theme. From here on out, through the mouthpiece of the magazine, Kalman would explore global social issues with fervency and style, one theme per issue from the altruistic to the scatalogical, and everything in between. Fortunately, some of the content and images of all its back issues are preserved at the the COLORS MAGAZINE website. It’s worth a few minutes of your time to scan through them; they are a Designer’s primer in social and cultural awareness and progressive design, showcasing the powerhouse that Tibor Kalman really was, and the faith that Benetton had in his vision.
